HOW DO I GET A COPY OF ANY CO’S OF MY HOUSE?

If you are the owner of a property and need a copy of your CO or a copy of your survey, please fill out a FOIL (Freedom of Information) request at the Town Clerk’s office.  Fees for copying these items apply.

Please note, if you are not the owner of the property, Law Department approval is required before copies are provided.  A CO search fee applies.

 

HOW DO I GET BLUEPRINTS OF MY HOUSE?

If you are the owner of a property, please fill out a FOIL (Freedom of Information) request at the Town Clerk’s office.  You may check with the Building Department that such plans exist before you file the request.  Fees for copying these items apply.

Please note, if you are not the owner of the property, Law Department approval is required before the request is filled.

 

HOW DO I FIND OUT WHERE MY PROPERTY LINES ARE?

Your survey shows where your property line is.  It is not always a specific distance from the curb.  If you do not have a copy of your survey, please contact us to see if we have one on file.

 

DOES THE TOWN/VILLAGE OF HARRISON SURVEY MY PROPERTY?

No, the Town/Village of Harrison does not survey properties.  You must hire a Surveyor to do this for you.

 

HOW DO I FIND OUT WHAT THE SETBACKS ARE ON A SPECIFIC PROPERTY?

Setbacks are different in each Zone.  If you know what Zone the property is in, you may look up the setbacks on our Zoning Table.  There are Residential Zoning Tables and Commercial Zoning Tables.  You may call our office to find out the setbacks.

 

HOW DO I FIND OUT WHAT ZONING IS ON A PROPERTY OR THE BLOCK AND LOT OF A PROPERTY IS?

You can call our office to find out what the zoning is and the Block and Lot is of a property.  This information is not online.

 

HOW DO I FIND OUT WHAT TYPE OF BUSINESS IS ALLOWED ON A SPECIFIC PROPERTY?

WHAT DO CONTRACTOR’S NEED TO SUBMIT TO GET A PERMIT?

 Town/Village of Harrison requires insurance on file prior to the issuance of a permit.  The Town/Village of Harrison needs to listed as the Certificate Holder and listed as additionally insured.  Please see our list of requirements.

 

HOW DO I GET A TRUCK PERMIT?

Truck permit applications are required for vehicles bringing materials in and out of the Town/Village of Harrison.  These permits are annual permits, expiring on December 31st of the year in which it was issued.

 

HOW DO I AMEND PLANS THAT HAVE ALREADY BEEN APPROVED?

Submit a Plan Amendment application  with 3 sets of drawings indicating the proposed changes.  See our Fee Schedule for the required fees.

 

DO I NEED A PERMIT TO REMOVE A TREE?

A Tree Removal Permit Application is required to be submitted before trees are removed.  This is for trees on private property, 4” or more in diameter, including dead and storm damaged trees.  Applications are to be accompanied by a survey of the property, marking the trees on the survey.  Also, mark the trees themselves with a ribbon, string, etc. so that Inspectors may inspect before removal.  For trees on the own Right-of-Way or on Town property, please contact the Department of Public Works at 914-670-3100.

 

WHAT DO I DO WHEN THE WORK IS COMPLETE ON A PROJECT?

A final inspection of the property is needed to receive a Certificate of Occupancy/Certificate of Compliance.  Any work that includes changes to the footprint of the property requires an updated survey of the property.  An Application For CO needs to be submitted.  Approval from the Fire Marshal and the Electrical Inspector is needed when applicable. Please contact our office for specific requirements.
 

HOW DO I SUBMIT A COMPLAINT TO THE BUILDING DEPARTMENT?

 Complaints shall be submitted in writing, as per Section 235-75 I of the Town/Village Code of Harrison. Complaint Forms are available online and in our office.  Complaints are held confidential.

 

WHAT ARE THE PERMITTED HOURS OF CONSTRUCTION?

Construction is not permitted after 8:00 p.m. or before 7:30 a.m. on weekdays or before 10:00 a.m. on weekends and national and state holidays.

 

Also note that the use of lawn mowers, leaf blowers, outdoor vacuum cleaners, wood chippers, chain saws and snow blowers is prohibited between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. on weekdays and prohibited between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 a.m. on weekends and national and state holidays.

 

WHAT ARE THE HEATING REGULATIONS IN A RESIDENTIAL DWELLING?

Dwellings shall be provided with heating facilities capable of maintaining a room temperature of 65° F (18° C) in all habitable rooms and bathrooms and toilet rooms during the period from September 15th to May 31st.
