The Supervisor/Mayor is the Chief
Executive, Financial and Administrative Officer of the Town/Village
of Harrison. As the official head of the town, the Mayor provides
leadership and vision for Harrison through the formulation of
policies, delivery of services, and communication and outreach to
the citizens of the town. She establishes priorities and coordinates
and monitors policies and programs to ensure that goals are met.
Unlike many other towns or villages, Harrison does not have a
full-time City Manager who is separate from a part-time mayor.
Supervisor/Mayor Walsh functions as both the Mayor and the City
Manager and is therefore also responsible for the day-to-day
operations, administration and supervision of all municipal
departments.
The Mayor prepares and administers the
municipal operating and capital budgets, manages the fiscal matters
of the town and makes related recommendations to the Town Board. In
addition, she is the town’s legal representative and presides at all
Town and Village Board meetings.
The Mayor serves as the town’s liaison
in cooperative efforts with the Governor’s Office, the Legislature,
federal and state agencies and surrounding municipal and county
governments.
